Atlantic Avenue Art Walk Scheduled for June 4 & 5, 2005
Art Walk 2005, a Two-Day Self-Guided Tour of Galleries, Open Studios
and Exhibitions Will Extend Along Atlantic Avenue, From Fourth
Avenue to the East River, in Downtown Brooklyn
Brooklyn, New York – March 15, 2005 - The second annual
Atlantic Avenue Art Walk will be held the weekend of June 4 &
5, 2005 from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. on each day, and is a collaborative
effort between the public and private sector, together with local
community groups and artists. The event will take place along
Brooklyn’s Atlantic Avenue between Fourth Avenue and Hicks Street.
All events are free and open to the public.
The self-guided
tour will include more than 75 open artist studios, events and
exhibitions with fine artist, gallery and neighborhood retail
participation. It will feature paintings, sculpture, watercolor,
photography, digital media and textiles, by both established and
emerging artists from downtown neighborhoods. Building on the
success of Art Walk 2004, this year’s event includes additional
music, dance, public artworks, and new venues for youth and families
on its programming schedule.

Avenue Art Walk 2005 is being produced by the Atlantic Avenue
Local Development Corporation and COlab Projects Group and enjoys
the support and collaboration of local organizations, such as
the Atlantic Avenue Betterment Association and the Hoyt Street
Association, as well as businesses rooted in the downtown Brooklyn
area.
The Atlantic
Avenue Local Development Corporation, a not-for-profit organization
committed to the economic development of the Atlantic Avenue area
between Fourth Avenue and the East River in Brooklyn, is charged
with bringing to fruition the Atlantic Avenue Master Plan and
also produces the annual Atlantic Antic, one of New York City’s
major cultural attractions.

Art Walk is designed to increase positive exposure for participating
local artists, organizations and area businesses, as well as further
establish the area as a vibrant and evolving neighborhood with
a meaningful connection to arts and culture.
