Sales & Festivities Begin May 7 on Brooklyn's Historic
Retail Strip
Brooklyn, New York - April 14, 2004 - On May 7th,
8th and 9th the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation
(AALDC) will present May Days and Nights on Atlantic Avenue,
a Spring retail event taking place at merchant establishments
on Atlantic Avenue between Hicks Street in Brooklyn Heights
and 4th Avenue in Boerum Hill. Shoppers can expect discounts,
complimentary tastings, raffles, live music, workshops,
freebies and even a Saturday night big band dance party.
The event is the latest of several retail promotions from
the AALDC, which is also responsible for the Fall Atlantic
Antic street festival, now in it's 30th year.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Art Lillard & Blue Heaven featuring vocalist Mary Foster
Conklin will perform at a big band dance party
on Saturday, May 8 from 6:00-9:00PM. Standards, swing,

At this event, a preview of the Atlantic Avenue Doorway
Lighting Project, as recommended in the Master Plan for
Atlantic Avenue.
Urban Archaeologists scour the back yards of pre-1860
brownstone Brooklyn residences digging for clues of
what life was like in the 19th century. Artifacts
will be on display next to 475 Atlantic Avenue where models
will promenade the sidewalks in vintage designer clothes
while offering discounts to Care Partners Thrift Shop,
a boutique that sells gently used items to benefit the
